Golden Apple Award Winner: Mr. Phillip Danials

At Fairview Middle School, Mr. Phillip Danials teaches 7th grade students Creative Writing, and how to share their inner most thoughts.

This week's Golden Apple Award winner is a local teacher who is teaching his students how to write. But their writing is teaching him a lot about his students.

At Fairview Middle School, Mr. Phillip Danials teaches 7th grade students Creative Writing, and how to share their inner most thoughts.
Phillip Daniels, Golden Apple Award winner, says: "The ability to come up with ... develop those skills."

Mr Daniels says even though he teaches students how to write, they also learn how to read between the lines, and gain some valuable character lessons along the way.

Mr. Daniels, "Teachers communicate subject ... who you are stays with them."

Who Mr. Danials is is clear to Ashleigh Varner, who nominated him for the Golden Apple Award.

Ashleigh Varner, student nominator, says: "The one-on-one attention ... had time for us or not."

Mary Jo Melvin, PhD, Edinboro University, says: "He takes writing ... to learn about his students."
