Guilty Plea in DUI Death

50-year-old John Petersen pleaded guilty to homicide by vehicle while DUI, a straight DUI charge involving alcohol and drugs and possession of drug paraphenalia.
January 8, 2014-A man accused of driving drunk and killing a pedestrian back in July entered a plea deal in court today.
50-year-old John Petersen pleaded guilty to homicide by vehicle while DUI, a straight DUI charge involving alcohol and drugs and possession of drug paraphenalia.
He initially had 19 counts against him but because of the plea deal he was charged with just three.
The initial incident occurred back in July while Petersen was driving in the 5800 block of Peach street in Millcreek.
Police say Petersen hit and killed 27-year-old Bryon Long who was pushing a grocery cart along Peach.
Petersen is facing the mandatory minimum of 3 years behind bars with a maximum of 10 years in state prison.
His sentencing is scheduled for March 24th.
