With only three days until black Friday people are gearing up for the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, but local officials are reminding you to be careful. For those heading out to the stores on black Friday and all holiday season a high volume of shoppers means increased risk of theft. Leaving packages or valuables in your car is a major concern. Always keep packages in your trunk and lock your car. If you have to leave something in your car you should cover it with a dark blanket to prevent theft. Most thefts happen when a car is intentionally or unintentionally left unlocked. Officials say busy traffic around this time of year could be dangerous. They recommend people stay alert when driving and even walking into the stores. Being aware of your surroundings at all times could help you stay safe.
