Nutmeg Won't Have a Companion Anytime Soon

The Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park is mourning the loss of a six-year-old red panda, impacting the Erie Zoo.
January 10, 2014 - The Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park is mourning the loss of a six-year-old red panda.

The sudden passing of the panda has an impact on the zoo right here in Erie.

The Erie Zoo was poised to welcome the new red panda, Zhin Li.

Because the Binghamton Zoo lost its male panda, they are keeping Zhin Li with its mother for now.

The male panda who died and the female panda are the parents of cub Zhin Li.

Zinh Li wasn’t being brought here to breed, but as a companion for the Erie Zoo's red panda named Nutmeg.
