Operation Christmas Child is Packing Gifts for Kids

22,000 shoe boxes will be filled with items for kids in need.

                More than 600 volunteers in the area are playing elf and helping children around the world have a Merry Christmas. Volunteers are out at Grace Church for another year of packing shoe boxes full of goodies for kids in need. Operation Christmas Child is at it again, packing school supplies, hygiene products, clothes and toys for kids in 100 different countries. These boxes go to kids who are living in poverty, orphanages or suffering from the effects of war. People of all ages came out to pack the presents. This year Operation Christmas Child plans pack 22 thousand boxes right here in Erie. Those volunteering say it is an easy way to spread holiday cheer. After 20 years the organization has sent 100 million packages around the world. This year the goal it to send another 9.8 million presents.
