Peterson Death Investigation Complete

The investigation into the gunshot death of an Oil City woman last July 16 will be delivered to the Venango County District attorney next week

On the night of July 16 an Oil City policeman shot and killed a 68 year old woman who they say was brandishing a large knife, threatening herself and police.

Public outrage in the wake of the shooting resulted in marches and vigils in honor of the slain woman.

The incident has been the subject of a two months long investigation by detectives from the Meadville Barracks of the Pennsylvania State Police. that investigation is finished, and the results will be delivered to Venango County District Attorney Marie Veon. She will revue the results with detectives and determine what direction her office will take in the matter.

The three officers involved in the incident have been on administrative duty since that night. They have not been identified.
