The first day of trout fishing season is upon us, and there's a special family fishing day planned.

On April 13th, people will be getting up early full of excitement, and right fully so. It's the first day of trout season.

There is an event at the Rotary Pavilion on Presque Isle that you may be interested in.
Brian Gula, environmental director, Presque Isle State Park, "We're gonna block of an area for families, handicapped kids and vets for our program where they'll learn to fish."

Whether you want to learn trout fishing or not, there's excitement surrounding the whole day.

Jessica Starr, yourerie.com, "This event is free and the bait and tackle is even provided for families who want to come out and fish."

Brian, "We're gonna give folks tips on how to clean and prepare fish and some recipes as well."

Just as in years before, the  floating dock will be full of families fishing, catching the first trout of the season.
