An award winning speaker was the keynote speaker at Mercyhurst University to discuss how a youth's education will shape them as adults.
Bill Strickland talked about a program that gets kids from poverty and engages them in the arts, so that they are interested in learning a skill that will translate into the workforce.
His company, the Manchester Bidwell Corporation, has schools across the country that helps young adults realize their potential. Strickland believes this program could be useful in Erie.
The talk was free and open to the public and part of Destination Erie's speaker series.
