Public Weighs in on Corry Schools Consolidation Plan

Public meeting allows concerned citizens to speak out about proposed consolidation plan.
December 3, 2013 - Dozens of Corry area community members filled the auditorium of Corry Junior-Senior High School to voice their opinions on the proposed school consolidation plan: the plan could result in the closure of Conelway and Spartansburg elementary schools and would reconfigure the grade levels.

The plan is being touted as an effective way to address a decrease in enrollment, bussing issues, and save the district some money.

Tonight, concerned residents stepped up to the podium during the public meeting, and overwhelmingly the feedback to the plan was negative.

Both community members and school board members say the idea of consolidating is not an easy pill to swallow.

Following tonight’s meeting, a three month study will be conducted by the board, and a vote will be made in March.
