Now that the general deer hunting season is done for the year, the Pennsylvania Game Commission is asking for hunters to report their deer harvests.

There are three ways to do that - either online, with a postage-paid report card, or using the new interactive voice response system. That number is 1-855-PAHUNT1, or 1-855-724-8681.

When calling the toll free IVR number, hunters should make sure to know their hunting license number and their field harvest tag information. Make sure to speak slowly and clearly, particularly when it comes to the Wildlife Management Unit number and letter. Responses to all harvest questions are required.

If you report online, you should print or save a copy of the submission as proof. Those who report via the telephone will receive a confirmation number.

Last year, fewer than forty percent of hunters reported their harvests, which has an effect on deer management efforts.
