The SeaWolves could not mount any offense against the Akron Aeros on Wednesday night as the dropped the series finale 5-1.
Akron jumped ahead against Erie starter Drew VerHagen in the second. Carlos Moncrief doubled with one out and scored on a Tyler Holt single for a 1-0 lead. Ronny Rodriguez singled Holt over to third and Jake Lowery brought home the runner on a ground out for a 2-0 lead.
Erie cut the lead in half in the fourth. With two outs, Aeros starter Matt Packer walked James McCann and gave up a single to Wade Gaynor. A pair of wild pitches brought home McCann making it 2-1.
The Aeros went back ahead by two in the top of the sixth when Cedric Hunter belted a solo home run off of Victor Larez making it 3-1.
Akron added two more runs in the top of the ninth against reliever Tyler Stohr. Holt led off with a single and Rodriguez walked putting two on for Jake Lowery. Lowery lifted a fly ball to right moving Holt to third. A passed ball scored Holt and a error scored Rodriguez for a 5-1 lead.
VerHagen (2-4) took the loss allowing two runs on five hits with a walk and a strikeout in four innings.
