SEPTEMBER 13, 2013- The unofficial kickoff to Steelhead Fishing season is upon us...
Fishermen and local experts say this season is expected to bring larger and more fish than year's past.
Many fishermen spent Friday fishing at the Elk Creek Access with their eye on the prize… Steelhead Fish.
Fishermen from near and far flock to the area year after year.
Officials say the perfect mix of cold wet weather allows the cold water fish to thrive.
And they say this season has provided that.
Last year, the season didn't begin until late October...
Officials claim this is the first time in 10 years the season has started this early.
Ed Kissell of the SONS of Lake Erie says if you can't make it out to Elk Creek Access, there are several other places.
He recommends fishing at Cascade Creek and behind the Millcreek Mall.
