Women Receives Outpouring of Community Support

Friends of a woman shot on Erie's west side have been showing their support by leaving teddy bears and flowers at the woman's home. The display of stuffed animals and flowers began showing up on Sunday.

The woman lives near the A&J Bayview Tavern and is recuperating in a Pittsburgh Hospital. According to Erie police, the 56 year old woman was robbed and shot three times just before three Saturday morning.

Police say she was leaving the bar with money from the establishment and that's when she was shot. Chief Randy Bowers, Erie Police Department states, "An employee of the Bayview Tavern closed up, left the building and was confronted outside in the 300 block of Cascade by an armed subject pulled a firearm shot the victim three times took the moneybag and fled north".
She was transported to UPMC Hamot then transferred to a Pittsburgh Hospital. At this time, police have no one in custody and are continuing their investigation.
