Sean Lafferty is the co-anchor and managing editor for the evening newscasts on JET 24 and FOX 66. He can be seen weeknights on JET 24 Action News at 5, 5:3-, 6 and 11 as well as FOX 66 News at 10.
Sean came to JET 24 in 1988 on the city hall beat and has maintained a strong interest in politics on the local, state and federal levels. As an award-winning reporter, his work has covered a wide range of topics from the 2008 Presidential inauguration and the 2016 GOP convention to investigations and exploring shipwrecks 100 feet below the surface of Lake Erie.
Sean’s return to Erie was a homecoming, of sorts. Born in Utica, NY, his family moved several times before coming to Erie from Toronto, Ontario in the 1970s. After graduating from Kent State University in 1987, Sean worked at WFUN/WREO radio in Ashtabula, Ohio and WAKC-TV in Akron, Ohio.
Since 2013, Sean has also worked as an adjunct lecturer in the communications department at Gannon University in Erie.
When he’s not at work, Sean enjoys playing and watching hockey. He’s a big fan of the Buffalo Sabres, Cleveland Browns, Indians, Cavaliers and all teams Erie.
Sean lives in Millcreek with his wife, Joanne.
