A senior at McDowell High School says she will never forget her chemistry teacher and added he is a huge influence in her life.
“Mr Hodgson, you are this week’s Golden Apple Award winner.”
It was nothing but surprise for Rob Hodgson, a chemistry teacher at McDowell High School when the Golden Apple crew walked into his classroom. Mr. Hodgson was nominated by one of his students, Saniber Stavinsky, who says he is one of the best teachers she’s ever had. “I’ll remember AP chemistry and Mr. Hodgson way down the line.”
Mr. Hodgson didn’t start off teaching. He was a patent attorney, but missed dealing with people. Teaching is his life’s dream.
His way of connecting with students makes him one of those special teachers.
Stavinsky tells us, “not only taught about chemistry, but he taught life lessons as well. When I was stressing he said, ‘don’t worry about mistakes, just learn from them, get through this; don’t stress, you got this.'”
He tells us, “The number one thing I love about teaching is making connections with students and helping them prepare for their futures.”
And, that’s a lesson in itself.
Congratulations to Mr. Hodgson for being this week’s JET 24/FOX66 Edinboro University Golden Apple Award Winner. To nominate your favorite teacher, click here and fill out the nomination form at the bottom of the page.
