Bill aimed at preventing state and local taxation on stimulus payments moves to state Senate

The state House passed a bill preventing state or local taxation on stimulus payments.

House Bill 2408 would exempt cash payments under the CARES Act from state and local taxation and would ensure people receive the maximum benefit from the emergency federal funding.

CARES Act payments are not subject to federal taxation. The bill heads to the state Senate for consideration.
