After losing his grandpa to heart disease, a local boy wanted to remember him by helping others in his honor.
As a heart-warming gesture, 7-year-old Grady Harris baked up some special cookies to raise money for the American Heart Association and went door to door asking for donations, too. Grady did all this in honor of his grandfather, called ‘Dia’.
“I was really sad he did and I wanted to raise money.”
The first grader took on this labor of love to pay tribute to his beloved elder with the “funny heart”.
Grady’s grandpa had a rare genetic cardiomyopathy, and this young boy wants to assist the experts who help people with heart defects.
Grady’s Mom Aly Harris says, “he dove into this wholeheartedly and I think he can hold his head high. He did good.”
His Phys. Ed. Teacher, Bethany Pinzok, says, “he’s got a huge heart and he went above and beyond to help others who need help with their hearts.”
