Combining two passions, a local teenager is hitting the court to help out his church.
Sinking three-point shots to help out your house of worship, that’s been the mission of 17-year-old Colton Hoffman for the past three years.
Hoffman tells us he does this, “just to show people are still out there to help the church”.
He’s a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and plays basketball for Seneca High School. His fellow parishioners pitch in cash and he shoots three-pointers to raise money for church projects.
So far, Hoffman has raised $1400 though ‘Colton’s 3-Pointer Club’.
Pastor William Cox of Prince of Peace Church tells us, “he has always been active. He was one of our regular attendees at camp. What impressed me; he wanted to give back to a community that helped send him to church through these efforts”.
Cox describes him as fantastic and humble. And, when he talks about his efforts, you immediately understand why.
His church family often in attendance at the games to cheer him on, they are proud to call him one of their own.
Pastor William says, “I think he’s a positive role model that his peers can look up to”.
