One young girl’s passion for pets turned into a school-wide fundraising effort.
Nine-year-old Emma O’Donnell loves her furry friends, so she launched ‘Pennies for Pets,’ to raise money for the Humane Society.
Emma says, “…I wanted to find a way to make their life as happy at Humane Society and at their homes”.
So, she worked for several months, talking to her teacher, meeting with the school principal, and recruiting help from her peers.
Third Grade Teacher Kimberly Webb tells us, “she really put a lot of effort into the project, and I think it shows how one student can make a difference”.
Emma says she couldn’t have done it without a little help from her friends, so she’s quick to humbly share the credit.
“I think they did a really good job and worked really hard on posters for sure because we really made a lot.”
The total raised through Emma’s Pennies for Pets is a whopping $840.
Brooke Lunger of the Humane Society of NWPA says, “we run strictly on donations, so something like this is really helpful for us”.
