WATERFORD — One teenage boy is dead, another seriously injured in an accident in Waterford Thursday night.
Stancliff Hose Company said two teenage boys were on a dirt bike when the bike and a pickup truck collided at the intersection of East Third and Chestnut streets in Waterford around 6:15 p.m.
Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook said Aaron Moore, 15, was declared dead on scene, the other boy was taken by helicopter to UPMC Hamot with serious injuries.
“Two juvenile males riding a small dirt bike went through an intersection, were struck by a vehicle. We have one fatality and was flown to Hamot by Stat MedEvac,” said Stancliff Hose Co. Assistant Chief Ryne Rutkowski.
Pennsylvania State Police said the dirt bike was traveling on Chestnut Street and failed to stop at a stop sign.
The F-250 truck was on East Third Street and was unable to stop before colliding with the dirt bike.
The driver of the truck was uninjured.
“The driver of the truck is okay. A little shaken up, obviously. He was evaluated released,” Rutkowski said.
Union City Fire Department assisted Stancliff Hose Company on scene.
Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the accident.
