1 killed, 33 injured in central Pennsylvania tour bus accident

WEST CHILLISQUAQUE TOWNSHIP, NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) – Authorities confirm that one person was killed and 33 others injured in a crash on State Route 147 near the Point Township and West Chillisquaque Township line due to a multi-vehicle accident.

Crews on the scene confirmed with local police one man, the driver of a pick-up truck, has been killed.
In a tweet from Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg hospital officials say they received 33 people “from a tour bus/truck accident”, all of whom have “lower level injuries”.

Authorities tell us the injured were from Australia and New Zealand and were enroute to Lancaster, PA.
The accident is reported to be near the intersection with Route 405, although the exact details remain unclear at this hour.

PennDOT spokesmen say a detour has been create on Route 405 and Housels Run Road.
The highway is expected to remain closed for several hours as of 4:30pm Friday afternoon.
