This was the first significant storm since the Department of Public Safety absorbed the East County Dispatching Agency.
The Department of Public Safety brought on additional staff members ahead of the wind storm on Sunday. 911 Center crews say they were busy, but prepared, so their resources weren’t too stressed.
Crews tell us they had 503 calls for service in a 16-hour period; 130 of those calls directly weather-related.
Brian Mesaros, of Erie County Public Safety, says, “You really can’t prepare for it because you really don’t know how that’s gonna end up affecting you. The best thing you can do is just work with our municipalities so they can get information out. We can get information out and make everybody as best informed as we can.”
Crews say overall, the storm did not leave as much damage as they originally anticipated.
