The 15th Annual Maple Taste and Tour Weekend brings hundreds out for some maple syrup history and sweet treats.
Many of the 17 participating locations offered tours for guests. These guests getting an inside look, learning all about sap collecting, boiling, and filtering.
In Albion, the owner of the Sugar House, Chris Casbohm, even demonstrating how the syrup is made. “This is a 3 by 12 king evaporator… it’s an antique restoration with new panes on it. It boils the syrup; takes it from 2% sugar content to and brings it up to 66% sugar content during the boiling operation. It’s an antique operation basically using wood fire”.
