The opioid epidemic has been taking lives all over the country, but one group in Erie is saying “no more.”
Gaudenzia Erie Inc. held its annual graduation ceremony Saturday.
18 graduates completed a drug treatment program.
Organizers say they’ve overcome tremendous odds and now serve as active members in their communities.
One recovered addict says she’s on to big things after completing the program.
Graduate Twan Taylor, said “Well I’m in school now. I’m in Edinboro and I’m in undergrad for human services, which will soon hopefully turn into social work. I want to be a drug and alcohol councilor.”
The Gaudenzia Corporation launched in 1968.
Coordinators say a graduation celebrates the recovery process.
