2 men held at gunpoint in Chautauqua County car chase

FRENCH CREEK, N.Y. — Two men face charges after police found a man pointing a shotgun at another person on Wednesday night.

Nathan T. Babcock, 34, of Clymer, N.Y., was arraigned and charged with assault, three counts of menacing and harassment after holding two men at gunpoint after chasing the two men in his vehicle.

Babcock was chasing after a vehicle, causing an accident, before he grab a shotgun out of his vehicle and hit two men in the face before firing one round in the air.

Babcock held the two men at gunpoint until Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies arrived on scene at Marks Corner Road in French Creek.

Babcock is in the Chautauqua County Jail on $15,000 cash and 30,000 property bond.

Jeremy M. Cross, 34, of Corry, the driver of the other vehicle, was taken into custody and charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated driving.

Cross will appear in court at a later date.
