200 volunteers dive into tree decorating

Local News

200 volunteers are becoming master decorators for the 33rd Annual Saint Vincent Festival of Trees.

The 2017 Festival of Trees at the Bayfront Convention Center features a gallery of uniquely decorated trees, local entertainment and six rooms from Santa’s castle filled with different activities.  Today volunteers from Erie Insurance and Highmark Health Plan spent their mornings prepping the trees and stringing the lights.

Highmark Quality Coordinator Karis Turk tells us, “we thought the decorating would be fun, it’s a nice time to get into the Christmas spirit and, obviously, it’s for a good cause”.

Another Quality Coordinator, Jackie Allison, says, “it’s nice to see all the different decorations and all the ways you can decorate the trees. It’s nice to get different people together working towards the same goal”.

The 2017 Festival of Trees runs Friday and Saturday from 10am to 8pm and Sunday from 10am to 5pm.  Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children.
