People walking near Erie City Hall won’t have to search for rainbows in the sky, the City of Erie commissioned the temporary painting of the rainbow flag on a crosswalk at State Street and South Park Row.
The street was painted this week ahead of the 2018 Pridefest and March this Saturday. Organizers say the events are about celebrating and bringing visibility to the LGBTQ+ communities.
President of the Northwest Pennsylvania Pride Alliance, Alex Sphon, says, “…it’s really important in these times to be visible and to be active and to get out there and to just make sure that your voice… is heard and that your rights are protected”.
The pride parade will start at noon on Saturday at the Zone Dance Club on West 18th Street. It will then make its way to Perry Square, that’s where Pridefest will be held from 1-5pm with performers and vendors.
