2nd arrest made in homicide of Penn State professor

Local News

Police have made another arrest in the death of a Penn State associate professor.

Last week Pennsylvania state police arrested 39-year-old George Ishler and charged him with homicide in connection with the death of Ronald Bettig.

Saturday afternoon state police arrested Bettig’s housemate, 32-year-old Danielle Geier and charged her with conspiracy to commit murder, first and third degree murder and other charges.

Bettig’s body was found at the bottom of the Hanson Quarry in Potter Township near State College.

His car was found nearby.

It is alleged that Ishler and Geier lured Bettig to the quarry and then pushed him off of an 80-foot cliff in an effort to claim proceeds from a will Bettig had recently changed.
