4 people were rescued from a sinking 18 foot long boat on Lake Erie this morning. Their boat was reported to be taking on water at about 10 this morning west of the Walnut Creek Access area. Area water rescue teams responded but another private boat was in the area and came to the rescue. The Mai Tai arrived just in time to remove the 4 from the water. They were transported to the Walnut Creek Access and checked out by medics, who later transported one of them to UPMC Hamot as a precaution. Good job Mai Tai!
Waves of 6 to 8 foot were reported at the time, although there were no advisories or warnings in effect.
