A grant from the state will go a long way to help the city’s beautification efforts.
City council is expected to vote on an ordinance Wednesday morning, approving a $500,000 grant from Pennsylvania’s Department of Community and Economic Development, “Keystone Communities Program”.
The money will be split. Half will go to the Erie Redevelopment Authority and the other half to the Bayfront East Side Task Force acquire and demolish blighted properties, continuing neighborhood beautification projects.
Dave Deeter, of Erie Redevelopment Authority, says, “it’s leveraging city resources but we are following the Erie Refocused recommendations. The primary focus is Bayfront downtown and targeted areas within the city”.
