814 Back to School Summer Jam

Local News

The countdown is on until the school bells ring and the kids file in the classrooms. But are they ready?

An event at Erie Veterans Memorial Stadium helped to make sure they are.

Hundreds of families came out to the 814 Back to School Summer Jam.

The Jam gave away free back packs filled with school supplies and free hair cuts.

There was also free food and games, a tablet giveaway, kindergarten registration and much more.

A mother of five says it’s great to see a positive event bring the community together and help with back-to-school expenses.

Karen Hendricks says, “A lot of people, a lot of families can’t afford it now-a-days, especially if they have more than one or two kids. It gets hard. So I think this helps out a lot.”

Organizers say they plan to make the back to school summer jam an annual event and make it bigger and better every year.
