According to J.M Smucker, the Meadville office operations of Ainsworth Pet Nutrition are set to close but manufacturing will continue. Smucker filed a worker adjustment and retraining notification with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry.
Smucker’s bought Ainsworth in a 1.7 billion dollar deal in April. Barbara Kuncelman has lived in Meadville for 48 years. “It’s gonna effect the town if Ainsworth ends up shutting down,” said Kuncelman.
According to The Meadville Tribune Smucker’s is consolidating five different offices dedicated to their pet food business into their Ohio headquarters. Mayor of Meadville LeRoy Stearns hopes that out of 77 Meadville employees some will be able to transfer to the Ohio corporate office.
