If you’re a fan of musical theater, you most likely know the name Andrew Lloyd Webber. He’s the composer that wrote music for many iconic musicals over the years. From Cats to The Phantom of the Opera to Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, his repitore explores just about every topic you could think of. That’s why his music touches so many, says Kate Neubert-Lechner, Executive Director of the Erie Playhouse. “Well, I think it’s really great just to kind of get to look at one composer. Especially when it is one that is so loved. I think Andrew Lloyd Webber has done so much for the genre of musical theater in creating really, really, great, catchy, wonderful music that is so accessable and has brought a new generation of theater-lovers,” Neubert-Lechner said.
Both Saturday and Sunday’s shows at the Playhouse sold out, and then some, as staff brought extra seats into the theater to accomodate a few more fans of Webber’s. All of the nearly 90 performers were volunteers, proving just how much being a fan of theater goes hand-in-hand with being a fan of Andrew Lloyd Webber.
