The ANNA Shelter came to the rescue for dozens of dogs this weekend.
Pennsylvania State Police called the ANNA Shelter Friday asking for their help. Police found a place nearly four hours from Erie in a small town where an older man was housing 91 dogs. The man is facing over 200 charges for animal cruelty.
Ruth Thompson went down Sunday and brought back 26 dogs to rehome. She says some dogs were in kennels their entire lives, some were unadoptable, and others were just fine.
“These are dogs that…they are friendly, they are wonderful but they are just going to need some special homes and people willing to be patient and give them some time that they didn’t have before,” said Ruth Thompson, Founder and Director of The ANNA Shelter.
Thompson says the dogs are breeds ranging from a Chihuahua to a Saint Bernard mix. They were bathed and checked by a vet in spa day today. They are all ready for adoption.
