Hundreds of students seized the opportunity Saturday afternoon to meet with potential employers, colleges and training programs at the third annual Youth Job and Career Fair.
The job and career fair is sponsored by Mother’s Against Teen Violence, the Urban Erie Community Development Corporation and the Booker T Washington Center.
Founder and Director of the Mother’s Against Teen Violence program, Sonya Arrington, says more than 150 students were in attendance at Saturday’s fair.
She says it’s important students stay busy with jobs, education or programs to help keep the violence down.
Arrington says, “We say the youth are our future, and I think is an investment in our future. We have some of our vendors starting as young as 15 hiring. We need to teach these kids about accountability.”
Arrington says Mother’s Against Teen Violence will hold the annual Mother’s Day march at Perry Square next Saturday starting at 12 p.m.
