High winds took down dozens of trees across the county yesterday. If the winds are strong enough, any tree is at risk, but experts advise to check the trees surrounding your property for rot to better protect the property and those inside.
Jacob Thomas with J. Thomas Tree Service says people should check their yards to determine which trees to treat or remove before the next storm hits. A certified Arborist, Thomas tells us, “some things you can look for are trunk damage such as peeling bark and/or holes or cavities within the trunk itself. You can look for bare or leafless branches, which will be a pretty good indicator that there’s something wrong there.”
Thompson says people should examine their trees on a regular basis. If they see any problems, calling an arborist is the safest option.
