As the holiday shopping season gets underway, retailers both online and brick-and-mortar will be competing for business. Retailers are looking for new and creative ways to attract shoppers, stepping up their game online and in stores.
Amazon has opened an online store filled with Black Friday discounts while Kohl’s is hoping to attract customers by emphasizing how much shoppers can save by stacking coupons and other deals. Sears Holdings announced its Sears and Kmart stores have launched a “holiday blowout” promotion that will last through November 25th.
Amazon is offering an alternate reality for holiday shoppers this year. For the first time, shoppers can see things using augmented reality. Amazon says i-phone customers can shop for home office products, decor and electronics and get a look at how those products would look in their own homes. Here’s how it works: customers with ios 11 installed on their i-phone 6’s or later can choose to shop through the Amazon app. There, they can pick a product including furniture, appliances, toys and electronics and overlay it onto their living spaces to see how it fits. The app. also allows products to rotate a full 360 degrees.
