Starting at 8am tomorrow, thousands of people across the world will be donating to their favorite Erie non-profits.
The Erie Community Foundation’s 8th Annual Erie Gives Day raises millions for local organizations. Donors have 12 hours to make a minimum $25 donation to their favorite non-profit.
Last year alone, more than $4.4 million was raised in the 12 hour period, more than a million dollar increase from the previous year.
This year, nearly 400 non-profits have signed up to receive donations from the public.
Mike Batchelor, Executive Director of the Erie Community Foundation, tells us, “last year, there were donors from 46 different states participating in Erie Gives. We actually had donors from several different countries, including people in the military. They’re serving our country and they take time out from that to donate to Erie, Pennsylvania through Erie Gives… it’s quite heartwarming.”
