What’s cool about manufacturing? Local students are finding out and sharing their work.
7th and 8th-grade students from 12 Erie County middle schools were each assigned a local manufacturer to research and visit. The students were given video cameras to document what they saw and learned about the manufacturer and will talk to the employees about their jobs and what’s cool about manufacturing.
The students are now taking that video and editing it to create a story and highlight the company they were with. Some might question why start at such a young age? Laurie Knoll of Northwest Industrial Resource Center says, “That’s the age where students start to decide what career path they want to go down, what type of education they might need for the career they want to look into”.
