An autopsy is underway on a body found inside a home on East Avenue after a woman called police, telling them she had killed her boyfriend.
According to Erie Police, the suspect is 44-year-old Windy Thomas. She is currently in custody. She called police around 2am Sunday to tell them that she had killed her boyfriend. Police arrested Thomas at 1019 East Avenue in Erie.
She is being charged with aggravated assault at this time. We’ve learned that Erie Police are waiting on results from Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook. If he rules it a homicide, Thomas will be reprocessed and charged with murder. The results are expected shortly.
Jon Peters, Lieutenant of Major Crimes for EPD, says, “We got a search warrant for the house and we’re processing the scene right now.”
Thomas is being held at the Erie County Prison; the investigation is ongoing.
