Some bad news for students and graduates in Pennsylvania… you have some of the highest student debt in the nation.
According to WalletHub, PA has the second highest average student debt and the third highest proportion of students with debt.
Ohio and Mississippi are the only two states with a higherproportion of students with debt. Hawaii has the lowest student loan debt, with Utah and Wyoming rounding out the top three.
This information comes as we just found out state schools in Pennsylvania will see an increase in tuition starting this fall.
WalletHub says, “At the end of the first quarter of 2017, total outstanding college-loan balances disclosed on credit reports stood at $1.34 trillion, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. The latest figure represents an increase of $34 billion since the end of 2016.”
