Today, the Barber National Institute held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new statue on its grounds. The piece is called, ‘Timeless Possibilities’.  Organizers say it echoes the theme of the center, that everyone should have the opportunity to develop to their fullest potential.

The Director of the center, John Barber, tells us the display sends a message about the spirit of the facility and the community.  “We can accomplish great things when we work together, that each individual is important, that each individual has tremendous possibilities and that we are not victim’s of circumstance. We are not chained by destiny but our spirits have soared and been set free and that’s the feeling that I get when I look at that art.”

Students at the George Junior Republic built the statue.  The ribbon cutting ceremony kicks off an art show happening this weekend in the facility called, ‘Celebrating the Possibilities’.
