The second annual “Barktoberfest” was a tail-wagging good time at the Humane Society of Northwestern Pennsylvania Saturday.

The Humane Society and Lakeview Resale invited families and their four-legged friends to the second annual “barktober” at the Zimmerly Road location.

The event featured a doggie costume contest, silent auction and several other dog park activities.

After holding last year’s event at Mount Grove, Executive Director Nicole Bawol says the fundraiser is an even bigger success this year with the change in location.

Bawol says, “What we like to do when we create our fundraisers is we like to make them pet-friendly so people can come out with their pets, but also see the pets that we have available for adoption as well.  So we’re doing a little community outreach, a little fundraising and a little education all wrapped into one.”

All proceeds from the event benefit the Humane Society.
