As two local colleges battled it out on the gridiron Saturday afternoon, everyone at the game came together for a good cause.
Mercyhurst University hosted its 4th annual Battle Against ALS , or Lou Gehrigs Disease at Tullio Field during their home football game against Edinboro.
All admissions to the game were free, but All-in vs ALS Chair Coordinator Ben Bluemle says that helped encourage just about everybody in attendance to grab a wristband and make their donations.
Bluemle says, “It’s still getting the presence and the awareness right now, so getting the awareness out there is just as important, because building awareness up front first that also then in the back end does bring donations.”
Last year’s event brought in around $2,000 and Bluemle says he expects this year’s total will surpass that mark.
