Biden faces scrutiny over allegedly kissing Politician Lucy Flores on the back of the head in 2014

Local News

Former Vice President Joe Biden said to be on the cusp of announcing a presidential bid on defense after a former Nevada lawmaker claimed Biden inappropriately kissed her on the back of her head in 2014.

Biden saying he doesn’t believe he’s ever acted inappropriately.

The new scrutiny comes not just in the era of #MeToo, but as Biden appears to be leading in the latest 2020 polls.

It’s a campaign rally from 2014 that is raising new questions about the former VP.

“I feel Joe Biden put his hands on my shoulders, get up very close to me from behind, lean in, smell my hair and then plant a slow kiss on the top of my head.”

Nevada Politician Lucy Flores, who was running for Lieutenant Governor at the time, speaking out now that Biden’s kiss on the back of her head made her feel uncomfortable.

In a Sunday statement, Biden said that was never his intention.

“In my many years on the campaign trail and in public life, I have offered countless handshakes, hugs, expressions of affection, support and comfort.  And not once – never – did I believe I acted inappropriately.  If it is suggested I did so, I will listen respectfully. But it was never my intention.”

Flores seems to agree, telling MSNBC she doesn’t consider it sexual assault, saying, “I don’t believe that it was a bad intention… Every single time that Joe Biden’s history was talked about, this very long documented portion of his — of his record, of his history, was left out… It’s been dismissed as if it’s just Biden being Biden. Boys will be boys. No big deal. It is a big deal.”

No other woman has complained publicly, but Biden’s physical contact with women has raised questions in the past.

In the video, a photo can be seen with incoming Defense Secretary Ash Carter’s wife.

Overnight, Stephanie Carter said in a blog post on ‘Medium,’ she’s reclaiming the photo, writing, “the Joe Biden in my picture is a close friend helping someone get through a big, for which I will always be grateful.”

Other 2020 candidates have come forward and said they believe Flores, but also questioned whether this instance, alone, disqualifies him from running.
