Library-goers can learn some of the untold stories of African-American heroes throughout American history.
Community leaders are gathering at the Blasco Library for the opening of ‘Binding Wounds, Pushing Boundaries’. It’s a traveling exhibit highlighting African-Americans who worked as doctors and nurses during the civil war. The display comes from the National Institute of Health.
Johnny Johnson, Erie Resident, says, “America is rich in history and, a lot of times, we leave out people who we think are insignificant. Come to the exhibit. We’ll show you some of the significant people that were African Americans that did great things in America and for America.”
The exhibit will be stationed at the library through August 4th. It will travel to communities across the country and even some overseas.
