An unlikely crowd made its way to church this morning.
St. Mark Episcopal Church hosted its annual Blessing of the Animals service.
Cats, dogs and even birds made themselves at home on the church pews.
Each animal came up to the priest one by one to be blessed.
Father Donald Baxter said the event fits in well with Christian heritage.
“I think it celebrates the bond that we humans have between our pets and ourselves, which is a bond similar to what St. Francis had for animals and for all of God’s creation,” said Father Donald Baxter with St. Mark Episcopal Church.
