The search for a missing Buffalo Police Officer ends after five days of combing the Niagara River. The body of Police Diver and K-9 Officer Craig Lehner was located Tuesday by the Police Underwater Recovery Team.
The 34-year-old was last seen on Friday, taking part in a routine diving exercise. According to a story in the Buffalo News, a cable connecting Lehner to his dive team broke, stranding him underwater. The search involved teams from New York and Canada.
Lieutenant Jeff Rinaldo of the Buffalo Police Department says, “Officer’s Lehner’s family wishes to extend a debt of gratitude to all the agencies who assisted us in this and are very thankful for the closure, as we are… We’re forever in your debt to everyone who assisted us”.
Lehner was a nine-year veteran of the Buffalo Police Department.
