A boy is rushed to a Pittsburgh hospital, after he is hit by a train in the City of Erie Thursday evening.
Police say the boy, 10, was hit by a train traveling west bound on the CSX tracks near East 12th Street and the Bayfront Connector.
When first responders were called to the scene around 6:11pm, the boy was reportedly conscious. He was taken to UPMC Hamot for immediate treatment, then transported to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh where he remains.
Police say the conductor and engineer were contacted and were unaware the train struck the boy.
The boy told police that he and several others were running and playing near the tracks when he fell, and the train ran over his right leg severing it.
Erie police say they do not suspect any foul play.
