Boyfriend and suspect of woman’s death tells police, “I think I killed her…  She’s the Devil”

A double stabbing in Millcreek leaves one person dead and another injured.

Charges have been filed against James Gilbert, one of the individuals involved in the stabbing.  Investigators are looking at the case as a homicide.

Millcreek Police were dispatched to a home in the 5700 block of Mill Street for a report of two individuals covered in blood.  The affidavit of probable cause says a man was standing in the driveway, bleeding from the chest.  He told police, “I think I killed her, she’s in there.  She’s the Devil.”

After which authorities found a woman in her early 20’s unresponsive in the home.  Paramedics administered first aid, but could not save her.  The coroner’s office pronounced the woman dead at the scene shortly after 12:30 this morning.

The man is believed to be the victim’s boyfriend.  According to court documents, the two have an infant son together.  The man has been charged with criminal homicide.

Neighbors say they’re shocked and saddened by the news and looking for answers.  Lauren Kullen says, “To know that something like that happened, it’s really shocking. It’s really different from the typical atmosphere of the neighborhood.” 

Art Kujawinski tells us, “…You don’t want anything like that happening in any area, not just your own home.” 

And, Al Mangini says, “It’s kinda hard to believe that. This is a real quiet neighborhood but you know I guess it happens all over the place.” 

The Erie County Coroner’s Office will be performing an autopsy on the woman’s body on Saturday at noon.  There are no court dates set for the man charged.
